Setting goals can build your future...

Are you a goal-setter or do you just allow life to happen?

There is research that states when people write down their goals, they often times achieve them. There is something about writing them down with paper and pencil that triggers the brain to start looking for ways to make it happen! I wrote my first list about in my first year in business. Most of my goals have come to fruition! When people achieve impossible goals, often others think they are "lucky". However, being in the business for 30 yrs I realize that most high achievers begin with setting goals. They dream big and set big goals.

Michael Jordan and Donald Trump both have the same goal! Neither is willing to come in 2nd place for anything! Did you know that Michael Jordan was cut from his High School Basketball team...didn't even make the team as a Sophomore in HS. It was at that point that he decided he was going to be the BEST on the court. He then set a gaol and took immediate and high impact action. Michael practiced every day and when the time came, he was chosen to play for the varsity team.

Isn't it interesting that the harder you prepare, the luckier you seem to get? It's having discipline to sit down and set the goals and commit to making them happen. I know some people who are interested in losing weight, but never set a goal, and never take the correct actions to get the body of their dreams! The reason you have to sit down and write the goals is that it will give your life focus and direction to move the goal towards your dreams! Most people want to lose weight but when the hard work sets in to change eating habits and the way you look at food, most don't follow through! I know I have been on both sides of the fence...and believe me, I enjoy the thin me much more!!! :)

If you have a big dream...set the goal, and then start breaking it down into achievable sub-goals that you discipline to follow through on every day! And, you know what else? You have to celebrate the achievements of each small step because it will keep giving you the energy and excitement needed to get to the next key steps necessary to make your dream a reality.

I started my business and the first thing I did was pray. I prayed for guidance, and for the right people to come into my life to help me succeed. I sat down and wrote my goals. I went out and received advice from people who were sent to me at the right time (thank you God)...and each day I move closer and closer to my dream of having my own successful business. I am a hard worker and have put in many hours into the corporations I have led as an HR executive. I thought...why not work this hard for myself?

So...the goal list grows...and the discipline grows to weed out the tasks that don't take me closer to my successful life!

How about you? Are you setting high powered goals for your life and business?
